About The Team

The Adirondack Thunder's franchise dates back to 1990, but the current team/name began play in 2015 after the Calgary Flames moved their AHL farm team (Adirondack Flames) to Stockton and their team in Stockton was moved to Glen Falls.

The Thunder play their home games at Cool Insuring Arena, often referred to as Glen Falls Civic Center. The arena seats 4,794 people and alongside being the ECHL's main arena, it serves as the home rink for the Adirondack Junior Thunder. It's a versatile concert/sports venue thats hosted musical acts ranging from Aerosmith to Ozzy Osbourne and even a young Mike Tyson fought a bout here in his prime.

Did you know that Glen Falls is well known as a pioneer in hydroelectric power generation? During the 19th century, the city's waterfalls were harnessed for there hyrdoelectricity (water in motion), using it to create energy. Glen Falls was one of the earliest places to adopt this technology in the US at the time.
