Reading Royals

The Reading Royals are a minor league hockey team in the ECHL. The club is based in Reading, Pennsylvania.

About The Team

The Royals began play in the ECHL in 2001. During their time in the league, the club has won numerous division titles as well as a conference title and Kelly Cup. Prior to the franchises ECHL days, the club played as the Columbus Chill from 1991-1999.

Santander Arena

The Royals home arena during the season is the Santander Center. For ice hockey games, the arena can fit 6,500 spectators. Along with hockey games, the arena has hosted everything from world renowned musical acts to basketball and indoor football to even hosting the Lingerie Football League (had to look it up to see this was real).

How many championships do the Reading Royals have?

1. The Reading Royals hold one Kelly Cup Championship to date, winning the leagues hardware during the 2012-2013 season. The club has additional been awarded with several division titles and the conference title in the same year they won the championship.

Off The Ice in Reading, Pennsylvania

Located in the southeastern region of Pennsylvania with a total population of just under 100k. Besides attending a Royals minor league hockey game, it's a laid back city that has a nice mix of restaurants, museums, shops, and plenty of indoor/outdoor recreational activities depending on the time of year.

Interesting Facts

Reading is known as the "Pretzel Capital of the World." The city has a long-enduring tradition of making pretzels that dates back centuries. It is said that by the mid 20th century, about 1/3 of all pretzels made in the US were baked here. That's a lot of pretzels!
