South Carolina Stingrays

The South Carolina Stingrays are a minor league hockey team in the ECHL. The club is based in North Charleston, South Carolina.

About The Team

The Stingrays started play in the ECHL in 1993, making them the longest operating club to stay in their initial city that they were founded in. The club currently plays in the South division. They've had some great success throughout their history and have won a number of titles and Kelly Cups.

North Charleston Coliseum

The Stringrays play their home games at the North Charleston Coliseum. The complex is home to the hockey team, but the center regularly hosts all kinds of events from basketballs games to musical acts that are touring in the region.

How many championships do the South Carolina Stingrays have?

3. The South Carolina Stingrays hold 3 Kelly Cup Championships in the league, winning the title in 1996-1997, 2000-2001, and 2008-2009. The clubs additionally won a regular season title and countless division and conference titles throughout the clubs tenure in the ECHL.

Interesting Facts

Way back in the day in 1861, some of the Civil Wars very first shots were fired at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor. The city of Charleston played a major role in the war. To this day, visitors can check out the Fort Sumter National Monument and learn more about it's history and how the war unfolded here during that time.
