Athens is one of many peoples favorite cities in the entire Southeast. With a population of just over 125,000, it's big enough where theres tons to do (dining, shopping, festivals, and events), but it's not as big Atlanta so you're not sitting in traffic all day.
Athens is also home to the University of Georgia and has numerous museums, gardens, and state parks all within close proximity to downtown. It's a great city to live during the season...ice hockey here makes it even better.
The famous music group, The B-52's, were formed in Athens in 1976. Not only that, but the group played a key role in the city voting for the teams name, the Rock Lobsters (named above the band's hit song). The band is actively involved and supportive of the hockey team.
