The River Dragons have often had a strong veteran core of players and depth throughout their time in the league and are a competitive club to play against at home and on the road.

What players say...

"Columbus is a perfect place to play in the FPHL. The town in a good size and the people here treat River Dragon players exceptionally well. We had a veteran group of guys who were fun to play alongside. They demanded professionalism and bringing the work ethic to win every night at home and on the road, but this was a big reason why we had the success we did."

Off The Ice in Columbus, Georgia

Columbus, Georgia sits directly on the western border of Georgia with Alabama in the central part of the state. The city itself is on the Chattahoochee River which has played an important role in the cities history dating back to way before the American Civil War. Along with a wide mix of stores/shops, restaurants, and hotels, the city has a decent number of museums and a science center (Coca-Cola Space Science Center) that are worth checking out. Due to the cities geography, it’s one of the warmer places to play hockey during a minor league hockey season.

Interesting Facts

Columbus is the home of Fort Moore (formerly Fort Banning) which is one of the biggest military centers for training in the United States. At 182,000+ acres in size, it’s massive. Take a look at any map of the Columbus region and look for the big area southeast of town- that’s Fort Moore.
