The Danbury Hat Tricks are a minor professional hockey team in the FPHL. The club is based in Danbury, Connecticut.

About The Team

The Danbury Hat Tricks joined the FPHL in 2019-2020. Prior to the Hat Tricks, the city of Danbury has had numerous minor league teams that have play here. Two of which played in the current league (Danbury Whalers, Danbury Titans). The Hat Tricks won the leagues top prize back in 2022-2023. They are a quality opponent for most every team they face in the league.

"I hung up my skates on a high note after winning the Commissioner's Cup with Danbury. It was by far my best year playing in the Fed. The whole season. When we won the cup in the spring, we took it into downtown NYC and we sure celebrated. Lot of memories that I hold dear with that group."

Danbury Ice Arena

Danbury Ice Arena is the official rink that the Hat Tricks play out of during the FPHL season. For hockey games, the arena can hold a bit over 2,000+ spectators and the place fills up on game days. The arena additionally serves as a venue for other youth/hockey related activities and events in town.

Off The Ice in Danbury, Connecticut

Danbury is situated on the western border of Connecticut right next to New York State. The city (and it’s current team’s name) is known as the “Hat City” due to the cities history in the hat making industry during the 19th century when they were a leading producer of hats at the time. Today, Danbury offers citizens and guests alike with a wide mix of activities. These range from local restaurants all the way to the cities several museums and adventure parks. With Danbury being located just 50 miles north of New York City, it’s well worth a trip down to the Big Apple from time to time while you’re here.

Interesting Facts

Many years ago, Danbury was known around the country as the “Hat City.” We touched on this briefly in our about the city (off the ice) section above, but it’s worth touching on a bit further here since this played a big role in Danbury’s history and economy during that time. During the 19th century, Danbury was one of the biggest producers of hats and the factories here supplied hats to people around the world. Now when look at the current teams logo wearing a top hat, you now understand the tie to the city a bit more.
