Danville, Illinois is a classic small town in the Midwest that sits along the Vermillion River. With a population of just under 30,000 people, it’s big enough while still having a small town feel. The city is made up of nice neighborhoods and has three main districts (downtown, campus, and retail shopping). Along with the Village Mall, there’s a number of theaters, museums, and restaurants. Throughout the city, there is also a few dozen parks and recreation facilities so there’s much to do outside as well in Danville.
Way back in the 1800's through the 1900's, Danville was a key coal mining region in the United States. At the time, it was quite a big industrial city in terms of it's impact in these sectors.
