About The Team

The Monroe Moccasins FPHL organization was founded in 2024. Minor league hockey is not new to the people of Monroe, Louisiana though. Back in 1997, the city had a former team (under the same name) that played in the Western Professional Hockey League from 1997-2001. The Moccasins now join the Baton Rouge Zydeco as the 2nd FPHL team in Louisiana.

Monroe Civic Center

Built back in 1965, Monroe Civic Center plays home for the Monroe Moccasins during the FPHL hockey season. Besides hosting minor league hockey as the teams home rink, this multi-use arena and conference center serves as a center for everything from concerts and circuses to equestrian and rodeos. The arena can sit up to 5,600 spectators at capacity.

Off The Ice in Monroe, Louisiana

Monroe is a city in northeastern part of Louisiana and sits on the banks of the Ouachita River. The city offers plenty to do from a mix of restaurants, exploring art shops, museums, and the Louisiana Purchase Gardans and Zoo. Monroe is also known for Black Bayou Lake, it’s National Wildlife Refuge just north of town.

Interesting Facts

World renowned country artist and musician, Tim McGraw, was born and raised just a bit east of Monroe. He attended Northeastern Louisiana University in Monroe on a baseball scholarship and regularly played at clubs here in Monroe during college before he dropped out and moved to Nashville.
