About The Team

The Watertown Wolves organization was founded back in 2010. For the first two full seasons, the team played as the 1000 Islands Privateers in Alexandria Bay before making the move to Watertown before the 2012-2013 season. A year later following the move (2013-2014), the organization changed the teams name to be the Watertown Privateers. New ownership took hold of the club in 2014-2015 and rebranded the club as the Watertown Wolves. The club has faced quite a bit of adversity over the years ranging from several more ownership changes to lengthy stoppages in play (year long rink renovations, covid pauses, etc), but the club has put together a number of impressive championship winning seasons in the league in spite of the ups/downs.

What players say...

“It definitely gets cold and snowy here during the season. For my style of play and with growing up in Canada, I like it this way. Your entire focus everyday during the winter is on hockey and in Watertown, you could do exactly that. Eat, sleep, play minor pro hockey. The town is small but the fans are into the hockey.”

Watertown Municipal Arena

Watertown Municipal Arena is where the Wolves call home during the FPHL hockey season. Located within Alex T Duffy Fairgrounds, the arena serves as the main arena for the minor pro team as well as Watertown minor hockey, the cities figure skating club, and several local school teams. The arena also offers public skating. It’s definitely not the biggest venue in the league, but the town has a fiery fanbase that shows up to support the Wolves throughout the season.

Interesting Facts

You know those smelly tree shaped air fresheners (Little Trees) some people have in their cars hanging from rear view mirrors? Those were invented in…you guessed it….Watertown, New York back in the early 1950’s.
