How would you compare/contrast NHL and VHL?

The NHL is stronger than the VHL. The VHL is a strong second league with some top Russian players (many with KHL experience), but it's a step or so below the NHL comparison wise.

The best players around the world from North America to Europe all vie to make it to the NHL.

The VHL rosters are filled with up and coming young Russian prospects as well as experienced veterans. Imports are much less common here, but the ones who play here must have strong resumes either in North American or European leagues prior to playing here in Russia.
