About The Team

The Pensacola Ice Flyers have played in the SPHL since the 2009-2010 season. Back in the 90's from 1996 to 2008, the team was known as the Pensacola Ice Pilots (ECHL). Pensacola is often a strong contender for the league title each season and the organization is one of the most appealing places for players to play due to the climate and teams ideal location right on the Gulf of Mexico.

"I came from a strong NCAA program so was glad to end up here. Set-ups in the minor leagues do not get much better than Pensacola. You are walking distance from the beach and for most of the season, it's decently warm there. A typical week day looked like this- we'd wakeup, head over to the rink, practice, and then either head to the beach or golf course for a round of 9 or 18. We're not even talking about the evening yet. Our rink was packed with fans every home game- I miss it."

The Ice Flyers play out of the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, FL. The arena seats just over 8,000 with the rink in place for games. Along with being the main arena for Pensacola's home games, the arena has hosted a wide range of musical acts ranging from Van Halen to Britney Spears. The team has one of the highest average fan attendance numbers in the league with over 5,200 fans per home game, making it one of the most entertaining spots to play in the SPHL.
